The Mas des Arts, in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, looks out towards the Alpilles range. Set in 5000m2 of grounds, the 650m2 main house, built on several levels, takes your eye on a journey through the history of art from the 1950s to today. At first glance you see a big 18th-century Provençal farmhouse standing majestically amid the trees and flowers of the garden, where you'll also spy some amusing artworks – a first hint of the originality of this place, its special identity. The Mas des Arts is an artist's house, decorated by a famous painter in the 1950s with an effusion of colours and mosaics. The style suggests the bohemian life beloved of many artists, hinting at freedom and a touch of talented craziness. A variegated exuberance of colour and design.

The six bedrooms are all different. Each is named for a colour and is fragrant with a particular perfume by True Grace. These large, light rooms are invitingly dreamy, with big beds, silky bed linen and bathrooms steeped in the emblematic scent of Hermès Eau d'Orange Verte.

The fully-enclosed 5000m2 estate borders the Voie Aurélia, the old Roman road along the north side of the Alpilles range. On one terrace people relax on the grass beside the heated pool. This is the setting for all your holiday fantasies! A swim, a sublime siesta, an evening with drinks by the pool ...barbecues and party nights ... and always that fabulous view of the Alpilles. The pool house boasts a very artsy 1970s oval bar and a summer kitchen.

And what would Provence be without a pétanque party? The pétanque court is near the pool, a few step further down.

- Upkeep of the property: Four hours' daily housework, household linen, bathroom and swimming pool linen. Maintenance of pool, garden and outdoor amenities.

- House notebook: Detailed information and helpful advice on how to get the best from the property, and information about restaurants, shops and cultural and leisure activities in the area (our favourites). Linens changed weekly unless agreed otherwise. Maids not responsible for washing guest dishes/ pots/ pans or personal laundry.

Situated in the heart of the Alpilles, Saint Rémy is one of the "must-sees" in Provence. Surrounded by lush green perfumed valleys, its ancient streets are lined with beautifully restored old houses... you will soon be seduced by Saint Rémy's charm! While strolling through the narrow winding streets you will discover fantastic old fountains, shady squares, picturesque restaurants and elegant boutiques. Square From the place Jean Jaurès to the gates of the old town, you will come across a long succession of "hôtels particuliers" (often converted into museums or art galleries), convents, chapels, and ornate houses from the 17th and 18th century. The beauty of the countryside and the quality of light has inspired many artists, writers and painters. Without a doubt, the most famous was Vincent Van Gogh who produced more than150 paintings of the countryside surrounding Saint Rémy de Provence. You can walk to the very same places painted by the artist and discover the mountain of St Rémy, fields of wheat and coquelicots (wild flowers), olive trees and cypruses - all just as it was more than a century ago. Triumphal archSaint Rémy de Provence is an historic village built on one of the oldest archeological sites in Europe. Visitors can fossick among the remains of the "Comptoir de Glanum" which was founded in the 3rd century BC, before control passed to the Romans under Julius Cesar. The ruins have seen the passing of several civilisations and you can visit the "grands Thermes", the long residential avenue, the temple and the natural spring of a true gallo-roman city, dating from 30 to 10 years before Christ. Two important monuments are visible next to the site : l'Arc de Triomphe and the Mausolée des Antiques. Following a logical procession of the excavations at Glanum, you can then visit the archeological centre at the Hôtel de Sade, a splendid example of 15th century architecture

Getting here:
The easiest way to get to Inland Provence from the US is to fly to Marseilles International Airport (MRS). If you would like to see Paris, fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport then connect directly to the TGV(high speed train) from CDG TGV2 to Avignon TGV(3 hours direct) and rent a car. You would plan to see Paris on the way back, taking the TGV from Avignon TGV to Gare de Lyon, getting a cab to your hotel in the city.

Terms and Conditions Overview

Arrival: Saturday (arrival date subject to availability)

Minimum Stay: 1 week - please inquire about exceptions outside the summer months.

Services Included: Final cleaning and any additional maid service listed on the web page

Making your reservation: These properties are reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, before you reserve, you are required to review and sign a rental agreement for the villa (the “Rental Agreement”). We will send you the Rental Agreement by email. The Rental Agreement explains in detail all of terms and conditions regarding rental and use of the property in detail. We shall have no obligation to accept any reservations, unless the Rental Agreement is fully executed.

Payment: After you have signed the Rental Agreement and filled out the appropriate information, as approved by us, a nonrefundable payment of the one-half (50%) of the Rental Fee (which price is defined in your Rental Agreement) must be received by us within seven (7) days to confirm the reservation. The remaining one-half (50%) of the Rental Fee is due 60 days before the arrival date, and is also non-refundable. If reservations are made less than 60 days prior to the arrival date, then 100% of the Rental Fee must be paid upon the signing of the Rental Agreement. Please know that a failure to pay any portion of the Rental Fee as set forth above and in Rental Agreement can result in loss of the reservation of the villa and a termination of the Rental Agreement. We will confirm receipt of each payment and note any outstanding balance and due date(s).

Cancellation: We have a no refund cancellation policy, but usually succeed in rescheduling cancelled reservations to the Spring or Fall or re-booking the cancelled period to another group and refunding the party that cancelled. Failure to pay the final balance (which is due 60 days before arrival) or provide required information for the security deposit may be deemed a cancellation with no refund due. Clients are advised to consider Trip Cancellation Insurance with the carrier of their choice at the time of confirmation.
