The house is set within mature gardens that offer a peaceful haven of tranquility. Guests enjoy complete privacy here, as the homes is fully protected on all sides by its own land; as well as benefiting from the ability to walk into the village in just 10 minutes.
The interiors of Domaine du Carmal are exquisitely designed, with each individual room having its own special character. The walls are all painted in delicate pale luminous colors, and the ever growing collection of English and French antique furniture and paintings create an impressive, yet relaxed ambiance.
The front of the home is enclosed by a large walled garden which is carefully designed to provide a partially shaded terrace. Candlelit dining and long lunches beneath the shade of the three ancient mulberry trees, which in summer are bordered by lavish lavender hedges, is an unforgettable experience.
Situated just in front of the terrace is a large, traditional basin with its historic fountain, which has been carefully adapted to create a glorious stone edged swimming pool. Beyond the pool, separated by an enormous rosemary border, is a large lawn, which is perfect for croquet. The two enormous cedar trees of Lebanon on either side of the formal garden are reputedly the oldest in Provence. Their towering height provides further shaded areas which are perfect for quiet days spent reading or relaxing, protected from the provençal sun. Beyond the garden is a large cherry orchard.
In all, our guests here find convenience in location as well as comfort and history to ensure a most memorable Provence experience.

Located walking distance from the quaint and quiet village of Saint Saturnin, near Apt in the Luberon Mountains. Within walking distance to the bakery, café and restaurants. Sight-seeing, winery tours, hiking and cycling are the most popular activities.
The easiest way to get to Inland Provence from the US is to fly to Marseilles International Airport (MRS). If you would like to see Paris, fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport then connect directly to the TGV(high speed train) from CDG TGV2 to Avignon TGV(3 hours direct) and rent a car. You would plan to see Paris on the way back, taking the TGV from Avignon TGV to Gare de Lyon, getting a cab to your hotel in the city.
