Vacation on foot! La Feniere is located in the heart of the popular hilltop village of Roussillon, right next to the Main square and the many restaurants, cafés, galleries and shops. Everything you need is just a short walk away: the bakery, butcher, supermarket, tobacco store, post office, doctor and pharmacy.

The house was built in 1849, in the typical architecture of Luberon. Perched on the hill-top, you’ll benefit from an exceptional panoramic view of Mt. St Victoire, the famous mountain of Paul Cezanne’s paintings, as well as the ochre quarries and surrounding vineyards.

Its decor, inspired by Provençal style, is warm and authentic, revolving around a fully equipped “cathedral” kitchen. Located on the ground floor, it has an incredible view of the surroundings.

Outside, there is a huge patio adorned with flowers, plants and trees. Two trellises allow you to have lunch or rest outdoors in the shade. The stone pool can be heated with a supplemental fee.

This property guarantees an unforgettable stay in the heart of a Luberon village.

Note, five-night rentals are possible at La Feniere from September through mid-June. Seven-night minimum required from mid-June through the end of August.

LOVED the house! Also, the Only Provence team could not have been more helpful, quick responses to all my questions

Areas for improvement:
None

Went above and beyond to help make our experience wonderful.
Absolutely would recommend.

What star rating would you give Villa la Fenière? 5
What star rating would you give Only Provence? 5

Everything. The villa was fabulous, the views amazing and the whole area was a tourist's dream.

Areas for improvement.
You need to say the garage is at street level and not include the picture of the neighbouring driveway. We arrived before Jean-Raphael and everyone in our group thought the instructions meant us to drive up the driveway. Unfortunately our attempt to do so resulted in a rather scratched offside car wing! Fortunately we had taken out 100% insurance on the car.
Although incredibly well equipped the kitchen had no kitchen knives for cooking.

Would you recommend Villa la Feniere?
Most definitely. It was an amazing place to stay.

The Villa was everything it promised to be and the location could not have been better.
Only Provence was excellent to deal with. They kept me well informed all through the booking process and sent reminders about due payments. They also reminded me about their extra services should we have wished to use them.

Kind regards and many thanks for a memorable holiday,

Gail B.

A beautiful villa in Roussillon, close to most village amenities, tastefully decorated. You really feel like you are part of the village life. Some great little restaurants and some nice evening walks through the village.

We had a fabulous time in Roussillon! Jean Raphael could not have been more friendly, responsive or helpful. We loved relaxing in the villa and taking drives in the Luberon. You have a gorgeous place and we loved the Apple TV and the fully equipped laundry room.

Only Provence was great to work with--5 stars! The descriptions on the web site were helpful and accurate. Signing the contact and payment were easy to do. The price of our villa was definitely reasonable.

We loved Villa la Feniere--5 stars! The location was ideal, within easy walking distance of restaurants, shops, and the Sentier des Ocres. The rooms were charming and quiet and beautifully decorated. The kitchen was stocked with enough glasses, plates and cups to host 20 people. Sandra was very attentive, especially when the hot water stopped working. She came by several times, brought us wine, and opened up the adjacent property so we could take showers while the repairs were underway. She was also very accommodating when we requested a Sunday-to-Sunday rental. The only suggestion for improvement is to include instructions for trash and a map to the trash collection site in the notebook. (She did show the husbands where the trash was, but they forgot!)

The chef, Gerald, was wonderful--5 stars! He prepared an extraordinary meal and explained everything in French and English. He brought all his own utensils and serving dishes and cleaned up everything. The food was superb. It was a delightful experience.

We really enjoyed the day-long tour of the Chateauneuf du Pape vineyards--5 stars! Our tour guide, Eric, was charming and very knowledgeable about wines, vineyards, local history and restaurants. He had established relationships with all the vineyards we visited and they were very welcoming to us. Each one took a different approach to making wine, which was fascinating to learn. It was also nice to have him do all the driving, so we could actually enjoy the wine tasting! We will never look at wine the same way again.

We would definitely recommend the villa, the chef and the wine tour to others. We loved the village of Roussillon, the spectacular views from the terrace of the villa, the stunning vistas of the deposits of ochre all around the town and the variety of restaurants.

5 stars for the villa (perfect location and perfect home), and 5 stars for the support from Only Provence. This was a wonderful experience for us from start to finish.

Locale

Situated in the Luberon, at the foot of the Monts de Vaucluse, the village of Roussillon is surrounded by beautiful countryside.

It is considered one of the most impressive villages in France - Roussillon is one of the "must-sees" in the Luberon, and is well worth a detour.

Roussillon - Ocres hills

Situated in the heart of one of the biggest ochre deposits in the world, Roussillon is famous for its magnificent red cliffs and ochre quarries.

The red, yellow and brown shades of the earth form a striking contrast with the lush green pinetrees. The vivid blue of the Provençal sky and the exceptional quality of light make this a magical site.

Roussillon - Ochre Facades

It is like an artist's pallet, with the infinite combinations of colours varying from yellow to purple with all the shades of pink and red inbetween.

Situated in the heart of one of the biggest ochre deposits in the world, Roussillon is famous for its magnificent red cliffs and ochre quarries.

Roussillon - City hall

You will become acquainted with Roussillon's unique natural history while walking along the ochre pathways.

You can also learn about how the ochre is treated and used in the building industry by visiting the "Conservatoire des Ocres et des Pigments Appliqués", situated in an old ochre factory. Most impressive!

Roussillon - Inn

As soon as you arrive in the village of Roussillon, you will be charmed by its atmosphere. Take the time to stroll around the picturesque maze of streets and squares. The ochre façades of the houses are magnificent... shades vary subtly from light yellow to dark red, set off by the brightly painted shutters and doors. From the base of the village to the summit of the Castrum and its splendid view, Roussillon is a delightful place to visit!

Roussillon - Terrasse in restaurant

Numerous artists, naturally, have been seduced by Roussillon: Jean Cocteau, Carzou, Buffet, Ambrogiani... to name a few.

You will discover several art galleries and studios, and a number of excellent restaurants where you can appreciate the talent of chefs well-known throughout the region...

Getting here:
The easiest way to get to Inland Provence from the US is to fly to Marseilles International Airport (MRS). If you would like to see Paris, fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport then connect directly to the TGV(high speed train) from CDG TGV2 to Avignon TGV(3 hours direct) and rent a car. You would plan to see Paris on the way back, taking the TGV from Avignon TGV to Gare de Lyon, getting a cab to your hotel in the city.
