The Provençal stone house dates from the 18th century but has been completely modernized inside to achieve a balance between the charm of the past and the utmost comforts of the 21st century.
The extensive gardens around the house are planted with lavender, olive trees and a wide variety of mainly white flowers. There is a separate herb garden.
The house, well protected from the wind of the mistral, is equipped for twelve people, with numerous terraces, a modern fully equipped kitchen and dining room, two sitting rooms, one overlooking the pool terrace, and a small office area. WiFi, television and sound system are available throughout.
There are six double bedrooms each decorated in its own style with private bathroom and countryside views. One of the bedrooms is in the form of a separate suite overlooking the pool and the valley. Another is located on the ground floor for easy access and two of the doubles can be split into single beds. All the rooms have artificial cooling of one sort or another - either air conditioning unit or cooling system from the floor.
The tennis court sits behind a pergola lined with white roses and wisteria; rackets are provided. The large swimming pool, with security cover, and the outdoor Jacuzzi share stunning views over the valley, mountains, and hilltop villages. There is a covered poolside kitchen and barbecue with seating for twelve, a large, comfortable lounge area for outdoor drinks and dinner, and a terrain de boules.

Mas des Fleurs is a beautiful and pristine new house which is particularly well suited to accommodate large groups. The house is designed around the stunning outdoor area and its spectacular views. The pool, the outdoor kitchen and the comfortable lounging areas make it a wonderful place to come back to after a day of exploring small towns and the perfect place to spend a quiet restful day. Every room is beautifully appointed and has access to the outdoor patio/pool area. Needless to say, we spent most, if not all, of our afternoons enjoying the views, the sunset and our children in the pool while enjoying some Rose wine.
The kitchen was another highlight of this amazing home – if you enjoy cooking or even if you just want to assemble your market treats, the well equipped kitchen was a treat.
The house is also very well located. While the closest town is technically St. Pantaleon (which is quite small) it is equidistant to Gordes and Goult, our two favorite towns in the Luberon region.
Through Only Provence we hired three different chefs to come to the house and cook for us: Chefs Sophie, Gerald and David. All three were excellent. Our favorite ended up being Chef Gerald who we hired for an additional night.
Areas for improvement:
The house is meant to be enjoyed mainly outdoors; the indoor space is extremely comfortable but may be a bit tight on a rainy day.
Without any reservations whatsoever, we would absolutely recommend the Mas des Fleurs.
This was the second time we rented from Only Provence and their service is top notch. We were a party of 15 (8 adults / 7 kids) and finding a house for 15 in the area we wanted was not the easiest task. Only Provence helped us find Mas de Fleurs, which we had originally discarded as it, only accommodate 12. Only Provence spoke to the owners, a really wonderful and caring couple. They are also the property caretakers and we couldn’t be more pampered. They welcomed us warmly and were available to us immediately to answer questions.

Mas des Fleurs is set in the Gordes countryside, five kilometers from the village and within easy reach of the villages of the Lubéron so adored by travel writers - among them Ménerbes, Lacoste, Goult, Bonnieux and Roussillon. Coustellet, with a variety of shops is only 10 minutes by car. The property is likewise well located for excursions beyond the Lubéron. Aix-en-Provence lies to the south, the Cotes du Rhone wine-producing region to the north, and the villages and restaurants of the Alpilles region to the southwest. The historic town of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, once a center of the Provençal silk trade and now home to more than 200 antiques dealers and Provence's best-known open-air market, is a drive of less than 15 minutes, it is the center outside Paris of antiques dealing.
The easiest way to get to Inland Provence from the US is to fly to Marseilles International Airport (MRS). If you would like to see Paris, fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport then connect directly to the TGV(high speed train) from CDG TGV2 to Avignon TGV(3 hours direct) and rent a car. You would plan to see Paris on the way back, taking the TGV from Avignon TGV to Gare de Lyon, getting a cab to your hotel in the city.
The picturesque Luberon villages and countryside. Famous places to visit like the Popes' palace in Avignon and the medieval Cistercian Abbey near Gordes. Music and theatre festivals throughout the year.
