The property has just been spectacularly renovated, and offers impressive open views and direct access to the countryside and the Alpilles mountains.
With large windows and doors opening onto the terraces, the villa has an abundance of natural light. The ground floor is oversized in comparison to comparable 4 bedroom houses, as it comprises of 2 vast living rooms, a large fully equipped kitchen, an office and 3 bedrooms. In all, there are 4 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and air conditioning. The renovation was finished to the finest detail, the inside is pristinely clean. The decoration is simultaneously modest, modern and warm.
The swimming pool area is ideal for adults and children alike - situated in front of the house - secured by an electric security cover, one can imagine spending hours in total relaxation. The garden is frequently full of flowers and so well taken care of by the owners. The private lavender field beside the swimming pool brings natural calm into the air.
While visiting Mas de Fontchaude, you'll find an abundance of activity in the region. Rent a bike and tour the back roads to Maussane village, les Baux de Provence, cafés and restaurants, and Roman ruins. This is a lovely locale for a Provence holiday at its best.

Nestled at the foot of the Alpilles, Maussane is an agreeable village in the vallée des Baux surrounded by vast olive plantations and superb countryside.
Maussane les Alpilles - Church
Although Maussane was situated on the ancient Roman road linking Arles to Aix en Provence, only a few remains can be seen today. Maussane's history is linked to The Baux de Provence where its inhabitants sought refuge in times of war.
Maussane les Alpilles street
Maussane slowly gained independence and soon prospered thanks to its many springs and fertile farmland. In the 1830s, Maussane possessed more than 650 hectares of olive trees and no less than 12 windmills or "moulins à huile" used to make olive oil.
Maussane les Alpilles fountain
Today Maussane and its neighbour, Mouries are the most important olive oil producing areas in the country. The first stop on the "route de l'olivier", Maussane has more than 37,000 olive trees. Its two windmills continue to produce oil of exceptional quality.
Maussane les Alpilles - Maison typique
Do not leave Maussane without tasting this famous oil... to appreciate the taste simply drizzle a little on a piece of bread or on a small chunk of goat's cheese... accompanied by a slice of tomato you have a true "péché mignon"!
The easiest way to get to Inland Provence from the US is to fly to Marseilles International Airport (MRS). If you would like to see Paris, fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport then connect directly to the TGV(high speed train) from CDG TGV2 to Avignon TGV(3 hours direct) and rent a car. You would plan to see Paris on the way back, taking the TGV from Avignon TGV to Gare de Lyon, getting a cab to your hotel in the city.
