Mas de Lagarde is a newly renovated farmhouse meant for guests who wish to spend holidays in the famous Luberon valley, while also enjoying peace and tranquility. Situated 2 miles from the village of Rustrel, on the eastern side of the Luberon, one has accessibility to the most famous sites while also having the advantage of a less crowded locale.

This mas is an absolute haven of peace. The large mansion is set on a perch overlooking the ochre hills and valley, doted with noble century-year-old oak trees. The views are extraordinary.

There are plenty of hiking trails directly from the house, and biking is even more agreeable, having been made famous by the Tour de France crossing the village each year. There are charming touristic roads, for trained people or for beginners, mountain bike or road bike.

Panoramic views from the terrace or from the large swimming pool area are equally impressive. The comfortable pool house fitted with an equipped kitchen, bathroom, changing room, and bluetooth speaker offers our guests a wonderful relaxing place to spend their days. Enjoy time in the sun or in the shade of the old trees, cradled by the songs of the cicadas.

The property is child-friendly, with plenty for young ones to do as well - terrain de boules, ping pong table, foosball table and swing beneath a large oak.

The ground floor has a refreshing system beneath the floor to maintain coolness: in addition all bedrooms are equipped with ventilators. The rooms are very large and can easily greet large families or groups. The vast kitchen offers all the amenities one can dream of and more : cold room, 2 refrigerators, 2 dishwashers, ice maker, juicer, wine cupboard, etc...

A ground floor bedroom with en-suite bath is available for people with low mobility. The house hosts 9 bedrooms - Five of them can be considered as Master bedrooms – and all of them have an en-suite private bathroom and a King bed which can be made as two single beds.

The decoration is quite chic, a mix between minimalist and modern, pristinely clean and so easy to live in.

A guardian couple is living on the property in a private apartment set on the North side of the building. They are dedicated people who help our guests to spend the nicest holiday, while also offering complete discretion. The husband is in charge of the garden, the pool and the security of the domaine, and can bring other services to the guests if his workload allows. His wife supervises the proper functioning inside the house, from the kitchen where she is in charge of the preparation of all the meals, to the cleaning of the house and the laundry.

The estate is located 1 hour 15 minutes from Marseille airport and one hour from Avignon TGV station. The village nearby is quaint and alive, authentic and charming with its XVI century castle, 3 restaurants and a grocery shop selling locally produced products.

The owners are flexible on arrival days and duration of the stay during the low / middle season.

Pool heating:
The pool is maintained at approximately 27 degrees Celsius from June to September included. Out of these dates, it can be heated at additional price. Please inquire.


Staff (3 or 4 people, depending of the size of the group) is responsible for:

- Pool and Garden attended to daily by the gardener (Olivier - Guardian); he is responsible for the proper functionning of the pool, pool house, terraces cleanliness, etc...

- The cook (Henriette - Guardian) is preparing all meals in the kitchen; she is taking care for all the shopping involved in these meals. Renters can of course take part in the shopping (outdoor markets... and the preparation of the meals

- All other grocery shopping, drinks may be considered (depending of the workload) at additional price

- Lunches and dinners can be served inside or outside, all the cleaning and dishes is done by the staff

- Continental breakfast is prepared daily between 8.30 to 11.00. Fresh croissants and bread can be brought daily (extra cost)

- Personal laundry service is available, done by the guardian or the maids, at additional cost

- Baby sitting possible, please inquire

- Daily cleaning of the bedrooms / bathrooms from 9.00 to 12.00

- Changing of linen weekly, towels bi-weekly

One day off for the personnel, day to be determined in case of 2 consecutive weeks

Autumn 2020:

We are very pleased with our experience working with the staff of Only Provence throughout the entire rental process.
Stanley Smith made the process of signing the contract and remitting payment easy. Ingrid Smith was very knowledgeable about the villa. She has seen the villa first hand and was able to give us detailed descriptions of the layout. Her knowledge of the villa gave us confidence and helped in our decision of choosing Mas de Lagarde over the other villas we were considering.
Carol Lafarge was very helpful all along. We thank her for her quick responses to all our many questions. She was instrumental in resolving our concerns about the in-house chef and made sure she communicated our meal preferences to the owner and house staff.
As for the Mas de Lagarde villa, all we can say is that it far exceeded our expectations. The layout of the villa and all the amenities were just as advertised. And everything was in top condition. The helpers came daily to keep the entire villa and surroundings immaculate and well maintained.
The in-house chef, Caroline, prepared breakfast and delicious meals for the times we had dinner at the villa. Her food presentations and table settings were amazing. She tried her best to please us and had snacks ready for us whenever we got home early before dinner or hanging around the swimming pool.

We all felt very ‘at home’ at the villa so much so that we even changed our itinerary so we could spend more time at the villa – swimming, playing Petanque or just hanging around and relaxing.
Thanks and kudos to Only Provence and to the owners of the villa. We will surely recommend you to our friends and hope to someday get the chance to stay at the Mas de Lagarde again or at any of Only Provence’s other properties.

Located near the quaint and quiet village of Rustrel, near Apt in the Luberon Mountains. Hiking trails starting from the house.

Nestled on a hillside, at the foot of the Plateau d’Albion, Rustrel is a small village overlooked by its 17th century castle, known for amazing ochre cliffs, giving rise to the Colorado Provençal—truly a magical and unique spot. Rustrel is the perfect place for hiking, running, biking along a unique landscape. Historically, the area was widely known for its iron mines and ochre deposits, but the landscape is now accented by marvelous lavender fields spreading along the famous Luberon valley and up to the plateau d’Albion toward the mountains of Mont Ventoux and the Alpes de Haute Provence. The village is very quiet and remains authentic and agricultural, despite being located just a stone’s throw away from all the popular and bustling hilltop villages of the Luberon : Roussillon, Gordes, Bonnieux, Lacoste Ménerbes…

Getting here:
The easiest way to get to Inland Provence from the US is to fly to Marseilles International Airport (MRS). If you would like to see Paris, fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport then connect directly to the TGV(high speed train) from CDG TGV2 to Avignon TGV(3 hours direct) and rent a car. You would plan to see Paris on the way back, taking the TGV from Avignon TGV to Gare de Lyon, getting a cab to your hotel in the city.

Terms and Conditions Overview

Arrival: Saturday (arrival date subject to availability)

Minimum Stay: 1 week - please inquire about exceptions outside the summer months.

Services Included: Final cleaning and any additional maid service listed on the web page

Making your reservation: These properties are reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, before you reserve, you are required to review and sign a rental agreement for the villa (the “Rental Agreement”). We will send you the Rental Agreement by email. The Rental Agreement explains in detail all of terms and conditions regarding rental and use of the property in detail. We shall have no obligation to accept any reservations, unless the Rental Agreement is fully executed.

Payment: After you have signed the Rental Agreement and filled out the appropriate information, as approved by us, a nonrefundable payment of the one-half (50%) of the Rental Fee (which price is defined in your Rental Agreement) must be received by us within seven (7) days to confirm the reservation. The remaining one-half (50%) of the Rental Fee is due 60 days before the arrival date, and is also non-refundable. If reservations are made less than 60 days prior to the arrival date, then 100% of the Rental Fee must be paid upon the signing of the Rental Agreement. Please know that a failure to pay any portion of the Rental Fee as set forth above and in Rental Agreement can result in loss of the reservation of the villa and a termination of the Rental Agreement. We will confirm receipt of each payment and note any outstanding balance and due date(s).

Cancellation: We have a no refund cancellation policy, but usually succeed in rescheduling cancelled reservations to the Spring or Fall or re-booking the cancelled period to another group and refunding the party that cancelled. Failure to pay the final balance (which is due 60 days before arrival) or provide required information for the security deposit may be deemed a cancellation with no refund due. Clients are advised to consider Trip Cancellation Insurance with the carrier of their choice at the time of confirmation.
