Set in the picturesque Provencal countryside, Mas de Saint Saturnin is a beautifully decorated and luxuriously comfortable home base from which to enjoy all that the region has to offer. The location, central to the Luberon mountain villages, is ideal yet you may not want to leave the property with its large pool, shaded terraces, quiet country setting and view over the Lavender fields.

R. we had a few issues with 2 of the toilets, but that was fixed during the week.

We loved the villa, everything as described and more, very convenient for the village and amazing views. Had intended to visit the local area by car but spent most of the week in and around the village and by the pool. Had two fabulous meals at Hotel Hubert, can highly recommend it, Bridget the proprietor was so welcoming and accommodating; amazing views of the valley from her restaurant.

Areas for improvement: Can’t really think of anything.

Definitely recommend the villa and Chef Marie (she cooked for us one evening).

Would definitely use Only Provence again, excellent service.

Lovely house in every way. Best thing was the combination of peace and views with being right in the village. Village itself delightful because it felt like a real working village with proper shops and local life, yet a friendly and attractive place. By contrast the well-known hilltop villages were beautiful but too touristy to be a good place to stay.

Areas for improvement:
beds not especially comfortable
shower in main bedroom completely unenclosed in bath, so my husband had great trouble not soaking everything! An enclosed shower would help everyone - though water pressure great.

We would definitely recommend house. I suppose it's a shame can't imagine using most of the downstairs though - big sitting rooms seemed a bit formal and we only used outside space and bedrooms. Only Provence good and would come back to you as you seem to have wide selection of lovely properties and you did guide me well when booking. Didn't use chefs or tours - did enquire about bikes while out there but although I got a reply bike man couldn't really help us at short notice and we sorted out our own bike hire with no problem.

Mas Saturnin is very quiet despite its’ proximity to town. My family of 5 adults recently spent a relaxing week in the comfort of this well-appointed home which is perfectly situated in walking distance from the charming town of St. Saturnin les Apt. I hate having to get in the car frequently when on holiday and everything we needed was available in town including high quality bakeries/patisseries, a well-stocked grocery store and a very good butcher. The restaurants in town are good and the proprietors are very friendly. This town has a Tuesday market which was wonderful and has all the vendors you could want, many of whom you will see at the larger markets like the one in Sault. This is the second home I have stayed in through Only Provence and I would definitely return to this property again.

The house is in a fabulous location with proximity to the village but the
feeling of being in the remote countryside. It is exceptionally well
furnished inside, with two very comfortably living rooms, and the bedrooms and bathrooms are well appointed. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking and more. The real highlight is the outside space--with a perfect dining table under an awning to keep out of the sun for mid-day dining and multiple little surprise venues for sitting around the property. There is a garden with herbs. The pool area is perfect--a very long and swimmable pool with plenty of loungers and a convenient pool house. An idyllic place to share with several couples or a large family.

What did you like about your experience?

The location of the house: peaceful and yet just a 2-minute stroll to the village centre and its amenities. (It’s a fairly steep, uphill stroll, but very short, on level ground).

The house: very comfortable, clean and well-equipped. The provision of everything (towels, crockery, linens, glassware, cutlery, cooking utensils) was plentiful, indeed generous.

The garden: atmospheric, delightful and fragrant (though we were a little too early for the heavenly jasmine).The paths were lined with deepest red roses during our stay, and there was a cherry tree full of ripe fruit that we were invited to pick. Discovering the magical little olive grove was a lovely surprise; it must be glorious for young children!

The pool: we were lucky with the weather this time (we usually visit France around the same time every year) so the pool had been heated and was deliciously warm. My family enjoyed it a lot, although I, as an unconfident swimmer, was only able to make restricted use of it because it’s uniformly rather deep.

The ping pong table: this was a real treat, and we were very grateful to the owner for providing this.

The housekeepers were attentive and helpful, but unobtrusive. We felt confident that we could contact them if needed.

Unexpected pleasures:

Proximity to the village: it’s an important aspect of the enjoyment of our annual visit to France to be able to shop locally, on foot, for fresh food that we can take home and eat outdoors.

The village: We hadn’t realised how practical, attractive and pleasant Saint-Saturnin would be, and yet very calm and peaceful. More could perhaps be made of this in your publicity, i.e. that there is a weekly market on Tuesday mornings, as well as two bakeries (also selling patisseries, pizza, quiches etc), an excellent butcher, a little grocery, a pharmacy, a newsagent (selling English daily newspapers!), a post office, a tourist office and a small supermarket, all within a few minutes’ walk of the house. Also, that there are two local cafés, a pizzeria (or 2?), and three restaurants. We ate at two of those and found them outstandingly good (countering recent concern in the English press about the decline of French restaurant cuisine!) People in the village were unfailingly charming and friendly to us, as visitors.

The views from the house and the surroundings: we hadn’t realised how stunning these would be. Opening the shutters to the prospect of Perréal amid sunshine and blue skies every morning was lovely! We drove as far as we dare up the hill and reached the chapel of Ste Radegonde on foot. The walk to the top of the village to the ruined castle (discovering the damned lake en route) was vertiginous but really spectacular.

Areas for improvement:

Nothing significant. We found some chive plants in the garden, and rosemary, but a few other cooking herbs might be welcome!

Some useful notes for visitors would be welcome: the date and time of the village market (and other local markets); the opening/closing times of local shops; phone numbers of local restaurants; emergency numbers; suggested local walks—the sorts of information usually provided in holiday houses.

Would you recommend Mas de Saturnin, Only Provence, Chefs or Tours to friends/ family and why/ why not? Yes, we would recommend Mas de Saturnin. We would also recommend Only Provence, to anyone looking for a rather special holiday: for the high quality of their properties, their reliability, attentiveness and value for money

Our annual French holiday is an indulgence for us, something of a luxury! That said, we realise that Only Provence offers excellent value, quality and service, compared with other comparable organisations. It’s impressive, also, to bear in mind the owners’ philanthropic projects.

Beautiful, comfortable, well equipped villa in an excellent location within walking distance to a beautiful village. We really enjoyed having Sophie come and cook for us one evening. The food she prepared was simple, delicious and made for a very special evening.

Areas for improvement:
It was uncomfortable walking on gravel all the way to the pool, ideally it would have some paving stones interspersed in the gravel. It would be great if they could provide a map for walking trails and running trails, also if there was better information on the different markets in the area.

Would you recommend Mas de Saturnin and Only Provence?
Definitely, very fast response to all requests, really felt that I was being treated as an individual and that they cared about my holiday being a real success.

Getting here:
The easiest way to get to Inland Provence from the US is to fly to Marseilles International Airport (MRS). If you would like to see Paris, fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport then connect directly to the TGV(high speed train) from CDG TGV2 to Avignon TGV(3 hours direct) and rent a car. You would plan to see Paris on the way back, taking the TGV from Avignon TGV to Gare de Lyon, getting a cab to your hotel in the city.

Terms and Conditions Overview

Arrival: Saturday (arrival date subject to availability)

Minimum Stay: 1 week - please inquire about exceptions outside the summer months.

Services Included: Final cleaning and any additional maid service listed on the web page

Making your reservation: These properties are reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, before you reserve, you are required to review and sign a rental agreement for the villa (the “Rental Agreement”). We will send you the Rental Agreement by email. The Rental Agreement explains in detail all of terms and conditions regarding rental and use of the property in detail. We shall have no obligation to accept any reservations, unless the Rental Agreement is fully executed.

Payment: After you have signed the Rental Agreement and filled out the appropriate information, as approved by us, a nonrefundable payment of the one-half (50%) of the Rental Fee (which price is defined in your Rental Agreement) must be received by us within seven (7) days to confirm the reservation. The remaining one-half (50%) of the Rental Fee is due 60 days before the arrival date, and is also non-refundable. If reservations are made less than 60 days prior to the arrival date, then 100% of the Rental Fee must be paid upon the signing of the Rental Agreement. Please know that a failure to pay any portion of the Rental Fee as set forth above and in Rental Agreement can result in loss of the reservation of the villa and a termination of the Rental Agreement. We will confirm receipt of each payment and note any outstanding balance and due date(s).

Cancellation: We have a no refund cancellation policy, but usually succeed in rescheduling cancelled reservations to the Spring or Fall or re-booking the cancelled period to another group and refunding the party that cancelled. Failure to pay the final balance (which is due 60 days before arrival) or provide required information for the security deposit may be deemed a cancellation with no refund due. Clients are advised to consider Trip Cancellation Insurance with the carrier of their choice at the time of confirmation.
