You are definitely in the heart of the Grand Luberon, in a 120 acre property planted with truffle oaks and among lavender fields, surrounded by ancient stone walls and flooded in the sun.
It is easy to imagine yourself a thousand kilometers away from civilisation. You can hear birdsong and the rustle of cicadas with no traffic or sight of modern life.
It remains the same magnificent site that it has been for thousands of years: nature, mountains and sky. The natural surroundings are unique and lovely.
For those who like walking, cycling, riding, swimming, peace and freedom it would be difficult to find a more secluded spot than this place. Yet it is ten minutes from Bonnieux, Lourmarin or Apt, and less than an hour from Aix-en-Provence, Avignon or the international airport at Marseille.

Q. Testimonial for Only Provence
R. This was a 50th wedding anniversary trip for my in-laws. My husband and I were hoping to give them something special. The Provencal stonehouse that we found through 'Only Provence' went above and beyond in providing for a special experience - not only was it perched on the edge of a cliff in the Luberon on a truffle farm tucked amidst lavender fields, the property came with a lovely host and helpful 'Only Provence' staff only an email away, making sure we had all the information we needed.
Q. Would you recommend Only Provence to friends or family? If not, why?
Q. What star rating (1-5) would you give this villa? (5 being best)
Q. Did your villa meet your expectations? If not, why?
Q. Were you able to find the property easily?
Q. Please provide details
R. Our wi-fi wasn't working when we needed it, but that was our fault. We were already warned. It was WAY the heck out there, which we loved. The coordinates provided by the host once we arrived were great and never led us astray.
Q. How were you treated by the property’s staff and manager? (5 being best)
Q. How would you rate the cleanliness of the villa? (5 being best)
Q. What else could we provide to improve your stay?
Q. Is there anything that needs to be replaced or updated?
R. The shower head in the upstairs bathroom worked fine as a hand-held, but I couldn't get it to stay pointing upright if I needed both hands. It would be a quick fix. Everything else was impeccable. 'Nickel!'
Q. Did you book any chef or tour services? If so, what was your experience?
Q. Would you consider staying here again?
Q. What did you like about your experience?
R. The host was lovely. The setting was inoubliable. Our weather was 'pourri' but it didn't matter one bit. We loved everything about our experience, including the Rafale fighter jets that buzzed the house twice. It was a fun surprise to discover -- from reading an old copy of 'Encore Provence' lying around in the mas -- that we were staying in the same place as Peter Mayle.
What did you like about your experience?
Beautiful property in very convenient location to beautiful towns. We were very lucky to have found this property via a google search. It was the first property we looked at on the net and it was a good experience. We saw other properties on your site, but they were way too expensive for our needs/budget.
Areas for improvement:
We drove from Switzerland and after a long drive we were frazzled and struggled with the small windy roads.
The only criticism is that the directions were very difficult to follow. Could be so much better if there was a simple map showing the farm from Buoux. Whilst there is a wooden sign within the property itself, there is no road signage. We would never have found the property had Bernard not come to get us.
Would you recommend La Truffiere and Only Provence to friends/ family?
What star rating would you give La Truffiere? (1 is lowest and 5 is the highest) 4.5
What star rating would you give Only Provence? 4

Two minutes from the quaint and quiet village of Buoux with 2 restaurants but no shops. Ten minutes from the village of Bonnieux in the Luberon National Park and 15 minutes from Apt and Lourmarin. Seemingly miles from anywhere with its wide-open spaces, tranquility and wildlife, this lovely stone house is equidistant from the market town of Apt and the medieval and exquisite town of Lourmarin with its galleries and restaurants. The surrounding countryside is very well known for rock climbing and hiking and with a fabulous old Chateau and an extraordinary medieval fort nearby, the area is also a painter and photographers' delight.
The easiest way to get to Inland Provence from the US is to fly to Marseilles International Airport (MRS). If you would like to see Paris, fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport then connect directly to the TGV(high speed train) from CDG TGV2 to Avignon TGV(3 hours direct) and rent a car. You would plan to see Paris on the way back, taking the TGV from Avignon TGV to Gare de Lyon, getting a cab to your hotel in the city.
