A Walking Retreat: Village to Village

A pilgrimage through Provence, one village at a time

There’s something deeply grounding about setting out for a journey on foot. When we slow down and give ourselves the time to move more slowly through the world, the simple act of walking becomes a way of returning to ourselves, to one another, and to the ground beneath our feet.

Autumn in Provence is an ideal place to enter into this rhythm. Ancient abbeys, forest paths, vineyard vistas, and hilltop villages offer the perfect backdrop for long reflective walks.

Our invitation is to join us on a different kind of pilgrimage—a gentle one that invites you to slow down, to see, to sense, and to feel all that surrounds you.

Walking in the spirit of the Camino de Santiago, but paced to match the landscape rather than race through it. We follow chosen stretches of the Luberon Loop, picking out its finest sections: lavender fields, vineyards, oak forests, ochre cliffs, and stone hamlets that have hardly changed in centuries. Each day means a few hours of steady walking, 10 to 15 kilometers, with plenty of time left over to sit with a coffee, rest under a tree, or simply take in a village square. Nights are spent in comfort, in some of the region’s finest accommodations.

Hidden Hilltop Villages

Morning

This morning begins with a short transfer to a quiet ancient village after breakfast. We wander its stone fountains and panoramic viewpoints before setting out on foot along a trail that meanders through fern-studded paths, rows of lavender, and past a Druid dwelling of ancient origin. Sweeping views of the Luberon Valley follow us all along the way.

Afternoon

Pause for a picnic lunch in a tiny village whose history stretches back to Neolithic times. In the afternoon, continue walking toward another beloved hilltop village, with its steep sloping streets, historic architecture, and panoramic views across vineyards and valleys.

Evening

Settle into the comforts of a small, remote luxury retreat tucked into the Grand Luberon above Sivergues — one of the quietest, least accessible corners of the region. The estate dates back to 1720 and sits alone across more than 100 hectares, with panoramic views that reach toward the Alps on a clear day.

Magical, mystical valleys

Afternoon

In the late afternoon, settle into your beautiful accommodations, have a swim or a spa, or a wander into the medieval hilltop village with sweeping views of the valley below.

Evening

Enjoy an incredible meal at an intimate Michelin-starred restaurant tucked into a centuries-old stone house in the heart of Provence.
