Why Retreats

Twenty years in Provence taught us what guests remember most.

For more than two decades, Only Provence has welcomed guests into the heart of inland Provence. What began as a small collection of carefully chosen villas grew, slowly and intentionally, into deep relationships with the winemakers, farmers, chefs, artisans and families who shape this corner of the world.

Along the way, an important truth surfaced. What lingered in their minds were the experiences: the unhurried encounters, the connection to place, the chance to live — even briefly — the way Provence has always quietly lived. The Art of Retreat is the natural continuation of that lesson.

A retreat, at its heart, is not about stepping away from life — it is about stepping more fully into it.

Guided by the seasons, our retreats blend enriching experiences, personal freedom, cultural discovery, wellness, exceptional food and wine, and genuine connection with the region and its people.

“Provence. There’s a reason artists, poets and mystics have been drawn to her light and rugged terrain, to her stone and sanctuaries. They speak. They heal.”

— Lydia Dean, co-founder of Only Provence

Upcoming 2027 Offerings

Seasonal retreats rooted in the land, the table,
and the living traditions of Provence.

Spring: The Luxury Reset

May 2–8, 2027

A reset for body and mind — wandering markets piled with the first of the season’s vegetables and wild herbs that signal Provence’s natural cleanse after winter, long walks through waking vineyards as the first flowers begin to bloom, farm-to-table lunches and dinners built around what the land is offering up. This Spring reset offers experiences grounded in the awakening earth here in Provence, with aromatherapy and spa treatments to close the days. Space to breathe, eat well, and begin again.

Summer: La Vie Provençale

June 13–19, 2027

The very best of inland Provence, brought together in one extraordinary week. This is a curated gathering of the region’s finest experiences, rooted in centuries of history and living Provençal culture. Art, history, culture, nature, food and wine — a thoughtful journey through Provence’s hilltop villages, Roman ruins, ateliers and private estates, in the company of local historians, artists and vintners. Every day reveals a deeper layer of this storied corner of Provence.

Autumn: Vine & Table

September 19–25, 2027

Experience the richness of harvest season in Provence — walks through the vineyards and along ancient paths, exploring the history of hilltop villages, private dining in a centuries-old château, a deep dive into wine through food pairings, hands-in-the-vines mornings, family-run winery visits, unhurried lessons in the basics of the cellar and in the kitchen of a Michelin-starred chef.

Provence Pilgrimage: Walking Village-to-hilltop Village

October 3–9, 2027

An ancient walking route reimagined with luxury at its edges — days on foot through autumn light and quiet villages, returning each evening to refined accommodation, considered meals, and time to rest. Our Pilgrimage in Provence is inspired by the Camino de Santiago, a path walked for centuries in search of meaning and renewal. The Luberon, in the heart of Provence, holds its own version of this timeless invitation.

The Luxury Farmhouse — Hotel & Villa

An 18th-century Provençal bastide

We’ve spent the last 20 years vetting and selecting the most authentic properties in Provence for our collection of villas.  For our retreats, we wanted nothing but the best — a setting that captures the beauty of stone, the perfect light across the vineyard, the hints of herbs in the air.

Set on 57 hectares of working vineyards in the Luberon countryside, this luxury estate and farmhouse offers an authentic expression of the Provençal art of living. Centuries-old stone buildings, elegant interiors, antique furnishings, and beautifully landscaped gardens create an atmosphere that is both refined and welcoming. The property remains deeply connected to the land, with organic vegetable and herb gardens, farm-to-table cuisine, and a long-standing agricultural tradition at its heart. Quiet salons, a library, and a spa provide inviting spaces for rest and reflection.
