Mas de Belleroche is best known for its stunning views of the Alpilles region. From the large open terrace spaces, as well as the beautiful pool area, guests are surrounded by panoramic views of lavender fields, olive groves, vineyards, and the impressive peaks of the Alpilles. Just minutes from the fabulous villages of Les Baux-de-Provence, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Maussane les Alpilles, and Eygalières, there is plenty to see and do.
This home is a truly special find, where one encounters the ultimate in location as well as the comfort of a convivial yet prestigious Mas. You will find beautifully renovated Provençal beams alongside original wrought iron fittings, stone walls, and antiques, offering both warmth and authenticity.
With three independent indoor sitting room areas, and an open kitchen leading to the large exterior terrace, there is plenty of living space for groups of up to 8 guests. By building directly into the stone hillside, this home stays cool even in the heat of the summer, and is a wonderful choice for those wishing to explore the region.
The village of Les Baux de Provence is situated in the heart of the Alpilles on a rocky plateau 245m high. A brilliant view of Arles, la Camargue and the Alpilles can be seen from the look-out points! This immense and superb stone fortress is without doubt one of the "must-sees" on the Provencal tourist trail! Les Baux de Provence - Catapult The village is officially classified and labelled as "one of the most beautiful villages in France". Its cultural heritage is exceptionally rich, with 22 architectural treasures classified as "Historic Monuments" (including the church, chateau, town-hall, hospital, chapels, houses, doorways... without counting items of furniture and a collection of paintings). The village has been painstakingly restored and is now one of the most popular attractions in the region... (no matter what time of the year you visit, you will not be alone... Les Baux welcomes more than one-and-a-half-million tourists a year!). The 500 permanent residents must surely have the impression of living in a real-life museum! The village can only be visited by foot and you will admire the ancient houses that have been carefully restored, beautiful Renaissance façades and several magnificent "hotels particuliers" which today serve as art galleries or museums. While wandering around you will come across many craft shops selling Provençal products and souvenirs... Food-lovers will soon discover that several restaurants at Les Baux boast international reputations... such quality dining is so hard to resist!!! Les Baux de Provence - Office du Tourisme You can not miss the "Citadelle des Baux" at the summit of the village. Les Baux covers 7 hectares and visitors can discover the main ruins of its dramatic past: the keep, Saracen towers, chapel, old war weapons... the history of Provence unfolds before your eyes amongst the rocks and stones.
The easiest way to get to Inland Provence from the US is to fly to Marseille International Airport (MRS). If you would like to see Paris, fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport then connect directly to the TGV (high speed train) from CDG TGV2 to Avignon TGV (3 hours direct) and rent a car. You would plan to see Paris on the way back, taking the TGV from Avignon TGV to Paris Gare de Lyon, getting a cab to your hotel in the city.
