Nestled in the heart of Provence, Mas Hortensia is a refined haven in the heart of the picturesque village of Lagnes, where tradition meets timeless elegance. Perched at the foot of the Monts de Vaucluse, Lagnes is a picturesque village that captures the very essence of Provence, a stone’s throw from the celebrated hilltop villages of Gordes, Roussillon, and Ménerbes.
Mas Hortensia features four quiet, air-conditioned bedrooms, each with a private bathroom. Inside, the home blends rustic Provençal soul with contemporary sophistication in every detail. The chef’s kitchen, a modern masterpiece, is designed for shared meals with the option to dine outdoors on summer evenings. Soft light, thoughtful design, and graceful furnishings create a soothing ambiance throughout the living spaces.
A secret courtyard, shaded by an ancient plane tree and scented with lavender, roses, and hydrangeas, invites quiet moments and joyful gatherings. The shimmering 14-metre heated pool, framed by lush greenery, offers a tranquil escape beneath the southern sun.
From this peaceful retreat, the treasures of the Luberon—hilltop villages, vineyards, and golden landscapes—are just beyond your doorstep.
Lagnes stands on a hilltop at the foot of the Pieï rock. The village is dominated by a 13th-century castle (remodeled in the 16th and 17th centuries), which gives Lagnes a medieval atmosphere. Don't hesitate to climb to the top of the village; you'll have a truly superb panorama of the entire Luberon region, the Alpilles, and even, with a bit of luck, on a clear day, you'll see the Cévennes. Just 10 minutes from L'Isle sur la Sorgue with its antique shops and chic galleries... and a few kilometers from Fontaine de Vaucluse and its waterfalls, the famous Sénanque Abbey or the Coustellet market rich in colors and smells...!
The easiest way to get to Inland Provence from the US is to fly to Marseille International Airport (MRS). If you would like to see Paris, fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport then connect directly to the TGV (high speed train) from CDG TGV2 to Avignon TGV (3 hours direct) and rent a car. You would plan to see Paris on the way back, taking the TGV from Avignon TGV to Paris Gare de Lyon, getting a cab to your hotel in the city.
Hiking, Route des Vins, visits of Luberon villages, outdoor local markets.
