Overview

Maison les Nomades is a unique hide-away inside the popular town of Isle sur la Sorgue, known countrywide for its weekend market specializing in antiques. It’s design, layout and fun amenities such as a trampoline, boules court and mini-spa make it a perfect rental for families of groups traveling together.

This villa has a fun and eclectic flair, blending both local décor with a wanderlust travel spirit–hence its name “les Nomades.” It was entirely refurbished at the beginning of 2023, with high-end material and equipment, for optimal comfort. The house has a relaxed and casual feel with 5 bedrooms, most equipped with AC. Two of the bedrooms are more simply decorated, making it ideal for children who can share a bathroom. Three other air-conditioned bedrooms (one on ground floor) are well suited for couples.

On the exterior you feel you have entered an oasis from the bustling town, chock a block with restaurants and boutiques. Once inside the enclosed gates, guests can enjoy the privacy of the pool, covered terrace for outside dining and even a small spa room with sauna and hammam. Kids will enjoy the outside trampoline!

This lovely villa is a wonderful value as it is located directly inside a popular Provence destination.

Locale

This exclusive property is located in L'Isle sur la Sorgue which is one of those places in Provence that one has to see. This "island city" lies at the foot of the Vaucluse plateau in the plains of Comtat Venaissin. Its colors are nature's green and the bright reflection of the water shining from the several canals running through its center. The river Sorgue surrounds the city as if to hug it. Walking along the canals you will notice how they run between the narrow ancient streets. There are little bridges to cross and great wheels to look at with mossy blades turning in the river. 1 kilometer from the city is the "partage des eaux" where the river splits in two and forms a small pond where plane trees and green foliage abound. History has left its mark on L'Isle sur la Sorgue and points out its importance in Comtat Venaisson in the 14thc. The Collegiate church Notre Dame des Anges has an exceptional Baroque interior and the 18thc, hospital pharmacy boasts a rare collection of Moustier faience. Also, magnificent mansions have been converted into art galleries, in particular the famous Maison René Char (18thc.), now a museum exhibiting such great artists as Miro, Mauguin or Dufy and a display area dedicated to René Char. Antique lovers and art collectors will be gratified by the nearly 300 permanent antique dealers and second hand shops here. L'Isle sur la Sorgue hosts antiques' fairs at Easter and over the August 15th holiday that have given a worldwide reputation to this small city. More than 500 antique dealers and second hand dealers gather here to show their treasures to customers from all over the world.

Getting Here

The easiest way to get to Inland Provence from the US is to fly to Marseille International Airport (MRS). If you would like to see Paris, fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport then connect directly to the TGV (high speed train) from CDG TGV2 to Avignon TGV (3 hours direct) and rent a car. You would plan to see Paris on the way back, taking the TGV from Avignon TGV to Paris Gare de Lyon, getting a cab to your hotel in the city.
