Nestled in the heart of the Provençal countryside, just a 10-minute drive from Gordes, A l’ombre des Chênes is an invitation to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with nature. Surrounded by majestic oak trees and blessed with magnificent views over the Alpilles and the Luberon, this charming retreat offers a peaceful haven where time seems to gently drift away.
Designed for comfort and conviviality, the property welcomes up to 10 guests (with a maximum of 8 adults) across five thoughtfully arranged bedrooms, combining elegant simplicity with modern amenities. The interiors are bright and welcoming, featuring a fully equipped kitchen, inviting living spaces, and carefully selected details that create a warm, home-like atmosphere.
Outside, the magic of Provence truly unfolds. Whether enjoying a quiet morning coffee under the shade of the trees, sharing long alfresco meals, or simply listening to the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze, every moment here is infused with tranquility. The natural surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for relaxation, while the property’s layout encourages both privacy and togetherness.
Ideally located, A l’ombre des Chênes offers easy access to the region’s picturesque villages, local markets, and sun-drenched landscapes, making it an ideal base to experience the authentic charm of Provence.
A stay at A l’ombre des Chênes is more than a getaway, it is a sensory escape, where nature, comfort, and Provençal art de vivre come together in perfect harmony.
A l'ombre des Chênes is in the Gordes countryside 3.8 miles from the village within easy reach of the villages of the Luberon so adored by visitors--among them Ménerbes, Lacoste, Goult, Bonnieux and Roussillon. The property is well located for excursions beyond the Luberon: Aix en Provence lies to the south, the Côte du Rhône wine-producing region to the north, and the villages and restaurants of the Alpilles region to the southwest. The historic town of L'Isle sur la Sorgue, once a center of the Provençal silk trade and now home to more than 200 antiques dealers and Provence's best-known open-air market, is the center outside Paris of antiques dealing and a drive of less than 18 minutes.
The easiest way to get to Inland Provence from the US is to fly to Marseille International Airport (MRS). If you would like to see Paris, fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport then connect directly to the TGV (high speed train) from CDG TGV2 to Avignon TGV (3 hours direct) and rent a car. You would plan to see Paris on the way back, taking the TGV from Avignon TGV to Paris Gare de Lyon, getting a cab to your hotel in the city.
