With sophisticated architecture and chic contemporary design, the house is located just a few minutes from the popular restaurants, shops and markets of St Rémy de Provence. The house is at the foot of the Alpilles with direct access to many hiking paths. For those who love to swim, the 24 meter long pool is dreamy! Enjoy style, comfort and sophistication in a country house with large private garden and up-scale amenities.
The decoration in the bedrooms, bathrooms, living room and kitchen are done to the standard of high-end hotels. Comfort in bedding and indoor & outdoor furniture is assured. The six bedrooms each have en-suite baths of equal standard, and private entrances allowing for the feeling of space and privacy throughout the home. Two bedrooms are located on the ground floor with one facing the garden and the pool, with private terrace. The living room is wide, bright and very elegant. The large windows throughout the house allow a feeling of openness. The four bedrooms with en-suite baths upstairs are perfect for couples, groups of friends, or small families traveling together.
The added treat of this property is a beautifully manicured garden space with shaded dining and lounging areas, overlooking the large pool and lawn. Comfortable seating abounds here for enjoying quiet days in the garden. The vast private space within close proximity to St Rémy is a true treasure.
Situated in the heart of the Alpilles, Saint Rémy is one of the "must-sees" in Provence. Surrounded by lush green perfumed valleys, its ancient streets are lined with beautifully restored old houses... you will soon be seduced by Saint Rémy's charm! While strolling through the narrow winding streets you will discover fantastic old fountains, shady squares, picturesque restaurants and elegant boutiques. Square From the place Jean Jaurés to the gates of the old town, you will come across a long succession of hotels particuliers (often converted into museums or art galleries), convents, chapels, and ornate houses from the 17th and 18th century. The beauty of the countryside and the quality of light has inspired many artists, writers and painters. Without a doubt, the most famous was Vincent Van Gogh who produced more than150 paintings of the countryside surrounding Saint Rémy de Provence. You can walk to the very same places painted by the artist and discover the mountain of St Rémy, fields of wheat and coquelicots (wild flowers), olive trees and cypruses - all just as it was more than a century ago. Saint Rémy de Provence is an historic village built on one of the oldest archeological sites in Europe. Visitors can walk among the remains of the "Comptoir de Glanum" which was founded in the 3rd century BC, before control passed to the Romans under Julius Cesar. The ruins have seen the passing of several civilisations and you can visit the "grands Thermes", the long residential avenue, the temple and the natural spring of a true gallo-roman city, dating from 30 to 10 years before Christ. Two important monuments are visible next to the site : l'Arc de Triomphe and the Mausolée des Antiques. Following a logical procession of the excavations at Glanum, you can then visit the archeological centre at the Hôtel de Sade, a splendid example of 15th century architecture.
The easiest way to get to Inland Provence from the US is to fly to Marseille International Airport (MRS). If you would like to see Paris, fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport then connect directly to the TGV (high speed train) from CDG TGV2 to Avignon TGV (3 hours direct) and rent a car. You would plan to see Paris on the way back, taking the TGV from Avignon TGV to Paris Gare de Lyon, getting a cab to your hotel in the city.
Saint Rémy de Provence, Les Baux de Provence, Eygalières and Maussane les Alpilles are beautiful villages with plenty of nice restaurants and cafés. Route des Vins Historic cities of Avignon, Arles, Nîmes and Aix en Provence.
