A lovely stone property in the Luberon countryside. Totally private and peaceful, this beautifully renovated house has lost none of its authenticity while offering comfort and modern amenities.
The decor is relaxed, tasteful luxury without pretense. Made up of of two connected buildings each with 3 bedrooms — the house is ideal for 2 families – set on 10 acres of groves, woods and grassy areas.
There is full sun around the pool for tanning or relaxing and full shade under the outdoor covered terrace. The peace and variety of trees and plants in the vast natural garden make the outdoor environment ideal.
Mas des Roses is child friendly with a Tree house, trampoline, foosball and ping pong table, though the kids will likely spend most of their time in the pool! Auberge de la Huppe or Restaurant Carcarille are very nice places with good food and Jazz music — only 5 to 10 minutes walk from the house.
Le Mas des Roses is just 5 minutes away from the famous hilltop village of Gordes. This location is within easy reach of the villages of the Luberon - Ménerbes, Lacoste, Goult, Bonnieux and Roussillon. Beaumettes and Coustellet, small villages with a variety of shops and small supermarkets, are less than ten minutes by car. The property is also well located for excursions beyond the Luberon. Aix en Provence lies to the south, the Côtes du Rhône wine-producing region to the north, and the villages and restaurants (among them the famed Oustau de Baumanière at Les Baux-de-Provence) of the Alpilles region to the southwest. The historic town of L'Isle sur la Sorgue, once a center of the Provençal silk trade and now home to more than 200 antiques dealers and Provence's best-known open-air market, is the center outside Paris of antiques dealing and a drive of less than 20 minutes.
The easiest way to get to Inland Provence from the US is to fly to Marseille International Airport (MRS). If you would like to see Paris, fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport then connect directly to the TGV (high speed train) from CDG TGV2 to Avignon TGV (3 hours direct) and rent a car. You would plan to see Paris on the way back, taking the TGV from Avignon TGV to Paris Gare de Lyon, getting a cab to your hotel in the city.
