Lavender Experiences

The scent, the light, the silence — and the stories behind them.

Lavender, As Far As the Eye Can See

There is a moment, usually somewhere between Bonnieux and Goult in early July, when the road dips and the fields open up and Provence looks exactly like the dream. Rows of lavender stretch to the horizon, hazy in the heat, buzzing with bees, smelling of something ancient and clean and entirely itself. You’ve seen the photos. The real thing is better.

But lavender in Provence is more than a landscape to move through — it’s a living tradition. The families who cultivate it, the distilleries that have refined the process across generations, the markets where the harvest appears in oils and honey and soap and sachets — this is a world worth slowing down for.

Self-Guided Lavender Exploration

No itinerary, no schedule — just a map, a route, and the fields opening up around you. Our concierge can point you toward the finest spots for the season, suggest the best hours for photography, and make sure you don’t miss the hidden corners most visitors never find during this visit to Provence.

Lavender Fields to Distillery Tours

Walk the rows, learn the difference between lavender and lavandin, and watch a traditional cutting demonstration before following the harvest to its source. At a family distillery five generations deep, you’ll see the distillation process firsthand and browse the boutique.

Lavender Immersion & Rosé

A guided distillery tour, an intimate fragrance workshop, and then out into the fields as the light turns the hills violet and amber — camera ready, air warm and still. The evening closes with a glass of rosé and a tasting of regional specialties surrounded by the quiet of the Provence.

When to Visit for Lavender

Lavender blooms from late June through early August, with timing varying slightly by elevation and location. The Valensole Plateau and Luberon valley fields typically peak in late June to early July. Higher villages like Sault hold their color a little longer, often through mid to late July. For the full violet dream, aim for the first two weeks of July.
