Sylvie Allan: Villa Rental Specialist

Meet Sylvie Allan

Sylvie brings a deeply personal connection to Provence and a thoughtful eye for detail to her work as a Villa Rental Specialist Manager with Only Provence.

With family roots in France and years spent exploring the region village by village, Sylvie helps travelers experience Provence in a way that feels authentic, unhurried, and quietly memorable. Her approach blends local knowledge with an intuitive understanding of how people want to feel when they arrive.

British by origin and based in northern Italy, Sylvie travels frequently to Provence to spend time with her French family and to stay closely connected to the region. She has a natural talent for uncovering places that feel lived-in rather than visited, from a small bistrot in Saignon serving home-made vegetable tarts with a chilled glass of rosé, to a hidden café terrace in Bonnieux where the view stretches across the Luberon and time seems to slow.

Q&A with Sylvie

When friends or family visit you in Provence, where is the first place you take them?

Sylvie: I would take them to Ansouis – a beautiful and authentic Provençal village. A leisurely stroll along the pedestrian village street past pretty local shops and cafés and on up to the impressive castle is an excellent introduction to Provençal village life. After appreciating the views from the castle, we would head to nearby Cucuron – another picturesque village famed for its central village lake (étang) and the reflections of the majestic ‘platanes’ trees in the lake.

For a great lunch with local seasonal ingredients, we would go to Le Cercle de Cucuron, an authentic bistrot serving tasty Provençal dishes at very reasonable prices and a favourite with the locals. And of course never forgetting to round off lunch with a delicious café gourmand, a coffee accompanied by a selection of all the perfect desserts – heaven!

After lunch, a drive through the idyllic countryside amongst lavender or poppy fields, depending on the time of year, to Lourmarin for a spot of shopping in the stylish boutiques selling everything from fashion to jewellery to art to Provençal linens. As the sun goes down, sip an apéritif or glass of chilled local rosé at the Café de France in Lacoste, admiring the panoramic view from their terrace across the valley to gorgeous Bonnieux.

What part of working with Only Provence travelers gives you the most joy and keeps you inspired?

Sylvie: Without a doubt, sharing the beauty of Provence–its history, culture, food, locals, and all the exciting activities on offer in this stunning part of the world with first-time visitors brings me great happiness, and I feel privileged to be in a position to do so.

I am so excited for every guest as I know they will love their stay, and it fills me with joy when they contact me on their return, saying they fell in love with Provence and want to book again.

What is one villa you think deserves more attention right now, and what makes it so special?

Sylvie: Mas Eternel is stunning and in a spectacular location. It is beautifully renovated with care taken over every detail, and the light and space are magnificent, yet it maintains a cozy sense of relaxation and comfort. When I visited this recent addition to our collection, the property immediately became one of my personal favourites.

The drive from the nearby village of Cereste through lavender fields and up to the picturesque stone villa on the crest of a hill… I felt like I had discovered a secret location, well off the tourist trail but still close to nearby villages, and with magnificent views of the Luberon countryside.

Hiking and biking trails leave directly from the property, and I would highly recommend renting an electric bike to explore the area. The villa itself has been so well-designed with comfort and relaxation in mind, from the covered lounge and dining terraces to the pool area with views on both sides. With A/C throughout, two ground-floor bedrooms, and a further four bedrooms on the first floor, the accommodation is flexible, and the rates are incredibly reasonable for a 6-bedroom, beautifully appointed property.
