Overview

Mas de la Clairière is an authentic Provençal farmhouse which has been beautifully renovated into a modern holiday home. Exceptionally quiet and private, while still only 1.5 kilometers from the lively streets of Saint Rémy de Provence, the farmhouse also boasts stunning views of the Alpilles.

The ground floor has large open spaces with all rooms facing South onto the vast terrace. This positioning allows beautiful light to seep into the home throughout the day. The living room is bright, spacious and elegant with large french windows giving an incredible feeling of openness.

The house has been equipped with a top of the line air-conditioning system servicing the entire home. The kitchen area is a dream – The combination of wood, restored flooring, stone and modern furniture offers a chic simplicity and a real living convenience for a perfect holiday in Provence.

All bedrooms on the second level face south with views onto the garden, pool and beautiful Alpilles landscape.

The property lies within a pine forest clearing with open spaces around the swimming pool, large olive grove with 150 olive trees, lavender field, and direct access to hiking paths.

With the terrain de boules, ping pong table and foosball table, billiard, and a TV room inside as well, both children and adults will find all they need for a fun and relaxing stay together in this exceptional home.

A 15 to 20 minutes’ stroll will take you to Saint Remy and an abundance of restaurants, shops and boutiques. Eygalieres, les Baux de Provence, Maussane and Avignon are also well worth the visit, a short drive away.

Situated in the heart of the Alpilles, Saint Rémy is one of the "must-sees" in Provence. Surrounded by lush green perfumed valleys, its ancient streets are lined with beautifully restored old houses... you will soon be seduced by Saint Rémy's charm! While strolling through the narrow winding streets you will discover fantastic old fountains, shady squares, picturesque restaurants and elegant boutiques. Square From the place Jean Jaurés to the gates of the old town, you will come across a long succession of hotels particuliers (often converted into museums or art galleries), convents, chapels, and ornate houses from the 17th and 18th century. The beauty of the countryside and the quality of light has inspired many artists, writers and painters. Without a doubt, the most famous was Vincent Van Gogh who produced more than150 paintings of the countryside surrounding Saint Rémy de Provence. You can walk to the very same places painted by the artist and discover the mountain of St Rémy, fields of wheat and coquelicots (wild flowers), olive trees and cypruses - all just as it was more than a century ago. Saint Rémy de Provence is an historic village built on one of the oldest archeological sites in Europe. Visitors can walk among the remains of the "Comptoir de Glanum" which was founded in the 3rd century BC, before control passed to the Romans under Julius Cesar. The ruins have seen the passing of several civilisations and you can visit the "grands Thermes", the long residential avenue, the temple and the natural spring of a true gallo-roman city, dating from 30 to 10 years before Christ. Two important monuments are visible next to the site : l'Arc de Triomphe and the Mausolée des Antiques. Following a logical procession of the excavations at Glanum, you can then visit the archeological centre at the Hotel de Sade, a splendid example of 15th century architecture.

Getting Here

The easiest way to get to Inland Provence from the US is to fly to Marseille International Airport (MRS). If you would like to see Paris, fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport then connect directly to the TGV (high speed train) from CDG TGV2 to Avignon TGV (3 hours direct) and rent a car. You would plan to see Paris on the way back, taking the TGV from Avignon TGV to Paris Gare de Lyon, getting a cab to your hotel in the city.
