Nestled in one of the prettiest areas of Gordes, Mas des Murets is a beautiful stone house set along a small road leading to vineyards and lavender fields. The panoramic views from the terrace and the pool are fantastic on the villages around the area. Following the country roads, the little hamlet of St Pantaleon is around 1.7km away with a well-regarded bistro. Alternatively, a 40 minute walk (5-minute drive) will take you to the village of Goult and its castle, coffees and restaurants.
The decor of the home was selected at the highest level: professional kitchen, beautiful furniture, televisions in each room, full-home sound system, large king beds dressed with fine linens. You will find 3 bedrooms with king beds on the ground floor, all with a private bathroom, and an apartment on the first floor with a separate outdoor entrance. In all, the house accommodates 8 adults plus 2 children.
A very efficient cooling system from the floor brings the house to a cool temperature in the hot days, and a lovely outdoor veranda offers another great location for breakfast, coffee breaks, or sunset cocktails.
Outside, the gardens and pool area are simply fantastic. Overlooking the vineyards and a windmill, the heated mirror swimming pool will refresh you during hot summer days. High quality outdoor furniture complete the fabulous decor and its picture-postcard Provencal setting.
Le Mas des Murets is less than 10 minutes away from the famous hilltop village of Gordes. This location is within easy reach of the villages of the Lubéron - Ménerbes, Lacoste, Goult, Bonnieux and Roussillon. Beaumettes and Coustellet, small villages with a variety of shops and small supermarkets, are less than ten minutes by car. The property is likewise well located for excursions beyond the Luberon. Aix en Provence lies to the south, the Côte du Rhône wine-producing region to the north, and the villages and restaurants of the Alpilles region to the southwest. The historic town of L'Isle sur la Sorgue, once a center of the Provençal silk trade and now home to more than 200 antiques dealers and Provence's best-known open-air market, is the center outside Paris of antiques dealing and a drive of less than 20 minutes.
The easiest way to get to Inland Provence from the US is to fly to Marseille International Airport (MRS). If you would like to see Paris, fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport then connect directly to the TGV (high speed train) from CDG TGV2 to Avignon TGV (3 hours direct) and rent a car. You would plan to see Paris on the way back, taking the TGV from Avignon TGV to Paris Gare de Lyon, getting a cab to your hotel in the city.
