Mas des Papillons is a beautiful property in a quiet location on the outskirts of the charming and picturesque village of Cabrieres d’Avignon in the heart of the Luberon.
Nestled between the other well-known villages of Gordes and L’Isle-sur-La-Sorgue, the property can accommodate 12 people. It is an ideal choice for large families with children or for adult couples traveling together.
This provençal mas offers several spacious living areas decorated with care and refinement. The main house features a large comfortably furnished veranda on one side, where you can enjoy breakfast with family or friends.
The interior living area is spacious and tastefully decorated. Six bedrooms can be found amongst the two levels of living space, each unique and spacious, all equipped with air-conditioning for summer comfort. Five bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms.
The large garden offers spacious lawns and a profusion of trees: century-old plane trees, olive trees, cypresses, pines, palms, fruit trees and various Provencal species… embellished by small stone staircases and paths, stone statues, and secret spaces cleverly created between the various groves.
Mas des Papillons has a lovely heated pool with its paved decking, a pool house with traditional charcoal barbeque, outdoor seating areas beneath the shade of a large tree and also beneath a pergola with views over the wonderful garden.
This traditional style stone home has everything groups need inside and out for a truly comfortable holiday. Sitting in the Vaucluse Mountains with wonderful views over the surrounding countryside, it is ideal for climbing, walking or mountain biking, and only 45-minute drive from the city attractions of Avignon.
Le Mas Papillons is just 10 minutes away from the famous hilltop village of Gordes. This location is within easy reach of the villages of the Luberon - Ménerbes, Lacoste, Goult, Bonnieux and Roussillon. Coustellet, small village with a variety of shops and a supermarket, is less than 2 minutes by car. The property is likewise well located for excursions beyond the Luberon. Aix en Provence lies to the south, the Côte du Rhône wine-producing region to the north, and the villages and restaurants of the Alpilles region to the southwest. The historic town of L'Isle sur la Sorgue once a center of the Provençal silk trade now home to more than 200 antiques dealers. Provence's best-known open-air market is a drive of less than 20 minutes, it is the center outside Paris of antiques dealing.
The easiest way to get to Inland Provence from the US is to fly to Marseille International Airport (MRS). If you would like to see Paris, fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport then connect directly to the TGV (high speed train) from CDG TGV2 to Avignon TGV (3 hours direct) and rent a car. You would plan to see Paris on the way back, taking the TGV from Avignon TGV to Paris Gare de Lyon, getting a cab to your hotel in the city.
Hiking, Route des Vins, visits of Luberon villages, outdoor local markets.
