Nested at the bottom of the magnificent white rocks of the Alpilles that truly pierce the sky and extending over five hectares, Le Mas des Peintres is a haven of peace yet only a few minutes from the bustle of popular Saint Rémy de Provence.
Le Mas des Peintres is delicately renovated whilst respecting its traditional materials of origin, a nice balance between tradition and contemporary design, combining stone, wood and steel. The 250sqm-wide Mas can accommodate up to 8 guests in total privacy and the entire house is air-conditioned. Of a very contemporary design, its cathedral ceiling kitchen is the heart of the house and gives it a majestic character. It is surrounded by the living room with a typical provençal fireplace and 4 en-suites bedrooms.
An organically grown vegetable garden is located just near the mas, and guests are welcome to pick what may be on offer.
Nature is omnipresent and creates living paintings all around the house. At the end of a path and through fields stands a natural swimming pool with a breathtaking view of the Alpilles mountains. Discretely laid out in the middle of the provençal flora and ideally located at the edge of the pine grove, this water retention blends into the landscape. As a small ecological reserve, the natural swimming pool operates as a nursery for wildlife that like to come there and rest.
In an enchanting setting, Le Mas des Peintres is a privileged place to spend precious time with your friends and family. The village of Saint Rémy with its cafés and restaurants is a 5-minute drive from the property. For art and theatre lovers, Le Mas des Peintres is the ideal address for exploring Arles during International Festival of Photography or the Avignon Arts Festival which both take place during the summer months.
Set on a 5 Hectares private estate nestled in the Alpilles, a 5 minute drive from Saint Rémy's famous bars and restaurants, and only a short drive away are some of the most picturesque villages in Provence. Worth mentioning are Les Baux-de-Provence, the famous fortified XIV century village, as well as Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, where Vincent Van Gogh painted, and where Nostradamus, the medieval age visionary was born. To the south of the Mas is the 2000-year-old city of Arles, which is famous for its Roman baths, an amphitheater, and an arena. Arles is also the capital of the Camargue region, an area well known for the white wild horses and bullfights.
The easiest way to get to Inland Provence from the US is to fly to Marseille International Airport (MRS). If you would like to see Paris, fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport then connect directly to the TGV (high speed train) from CDG TGV2 to Avignon TGV (3 hours direct) and rent a car. You would plan to see Paris on the way back, taking the TGV from Avignon TGV to Paris Gare de Lyon, getting a cab to your hotel in the city.
