Mas de Roquebrune is a lovely property with everything you need for a relaxing vacation. The location is fabulous - a short, scenic walk to Saignon for restaurants and croissants, and a great view at all times of day, but particularly at sunset. We’d stay there again!

We very much enjoyed our time at the villa and other than minor problems with the hot water ( not hot enough) and a faulty electric pool cover, which was speedily corrected we had a trouble free time. The house was well equiped and was extremely well located with a pool and large garden plus wonderful westerly views.

This was our second visit to Saignon but the first time at Mas de Roquebrune. Saignon is a great base for exploring the Luberon and less busy than than Bonnieux or Menerbes. Once you get familiar with the narrow roads, getting around is easy and the traffic light. Market days are a delight, particularly Bonnieux. If you enjoy walking there are many routes close by and all clearly marked. Foret de Cedres and Buoux were our favourite areas. For a more challenging walk, head for Auribeau and take the path to Mourre Negre. Saignon now has an upscale restaurant, Un Jardin Sur Le Toit. For simple but good country cooking, we love the Comptoir du Balthazar. There are many other good restaurants in the area, all less than 30 minutes drive away. Mas de Roquebrune is 2km from the village and takes around 30 minutes to walk along quiet country roads. Alternatively there is ample parking in the village. The house is in a great location, very quiet and ideal for outdoor living as well as being very comfortable and tastefully furnished. Having previously rented a house in the village, our preference would be Mas de Roquebrune if, or hopefully when, we pay a return visit!

Mas de Roquebrune is a comfortable and spacious retreat in a beautiful rural setting surrounded by cherry orchards and vineyards on a high ridge overlooking the town of Apt and just below the charming hill-top village of Saignon. The closest home is about 300 meters distant. Its location in northeastern Provence places it roughly an hour's drive from most of the attractions many visitors to Provence seek out, such as the famous Rhone Valley wineries, Les Baux de Provence and other well known hill-top towns. Kitchen is well equipped, beds are comfortable, plumbing works well and yard is attractively landscaped. Swimming pool is fine but unheated.

If somebody is keen on modern perfection this is probably not the right place. We loved the fact that we lived in a cherry orchard with ample place for a child and two dogs to roam around. The life provencal as you imagine it. Laid back and easy going. We had a very good time.

We loved everything about our experience. We all had our own suites, there were gathering spots both inside and out. The pool area was raised and had a nice breeze. It was private and spacious. If you are looking for a truly Provence experience this is it. This traditional French villa has a rustic exterior with a comfortable, updated interior that lives up to the pictures. We would recommend Only Provence to friends or family and the villa met our expectations and we would stay there again.

As you may or may not know we are travel agents, we have been in the business 40 years, at one point in time we had 4 offices and 60 employees. I must comment on your staff: Fantastic, Stanley was great and on call, and very knowledgeable I am pleased that we found your company. Interesting and thankful you are Only Provence. Your website is good and complete. We were out with a group of friends that rented a house (on the internet) on Lake Michigan, deposit was sent, the company was British based. Long story short, the whole adventure was a scam and they lost thousands. I do not know how you advertise a creditable business these days, with the above in mind, I thank your state side office and Stanley eased my mind. The villa was great, directions were good, nothing negative what so ever. 5 stars across the board.

The house was incredibly beautiful, the view from the hilltop was amazing and it was incredibly peaceful. We loved how removed we felt, but how accessible the other villages were. The only negative was the bees around the pool. Hard to avoid I am sure, with the property being on an old cherry farm, but we really couldn't use the pool until dusk, when the bees left. Any other time, there were hundreds swarming around and even landing in the water. Only Provence response: Unfortunately, the heat wave drove bees into seek water in the pools this summer! Only Provence gave us great, detailed information on how to locate our very secluded villa. We loved Chef Gerald. Mas de Roquebrine was a dream come true. Mas de Roquebrune is airy and light with incredible views of Apt. The interior is very clean, private and breezy, with no need for A/C. The kitchen is well-equipped and neighboring Saignon is heavenly. It really felt as though we were living in Provence. We never wanted to leave. You may want to note that though Saignon is only one mile away, it really isn't “walkable”. Not a big deal as there is plenty of parking. But if people really want something with an easy walk to a village, this is not it. Thank you! And everyone at Only Provence. Our vacation could not have been any better. We cannot wait to return to Provence and rent another amazing place!

Overview

High in the hills, with an expansive view overlooking Apt lies Mas de Roquebrune, surrounded by cherry trees in a pristine private natural environment just 1 mile from the village of Saignon. There are beautiful views of Mont Ventoux and the village Saignon from the property.

The house is an authentic farmhouse with all of the charm one would expect from Provence while offering comfort throughout the spacious interior, and outdoors to several terrasses. Though the property is located in the tourist area of the High Luberon, it is completely quiet and private.

Mas de Roquebrune offers 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with a supplemental small bedroom best suited to teens than adults or small children. Note, this room is accessed through another bedroom and does not have a private entrance.

This village is perched at the top of a hill behind a large rock which dominates the valley. Saignon is a peaceful little village that you can explore by foot. Opposite the town hall you will see a very pretty 12th century Roman church. Saignon fountain While walking through the narrow streets you will discover ancient fountains, picturesque shady squares and beautiful old houses with intricate doorways. Saignon, Clock tower Easy access to the rock of Saignon. Do not hesitate to climb to the top of the rock where there is a fabulous panoramic view of the plains and the Luberon mountain range. If the weather is fine, you can see Mont Ventoux, the Lure mountain, the Alpes de Haute Provence and even the heights of Avignon! Saignon is still relatively unknown so you can appreciate the beauty of the countryside and discover delightful walking trails in the surroundings and around Mont Luberon.

Getting Here

The easiest way to get to Inland Provence from the US is to fly to Marseille International Airport (MRS). If you would like to see Paris, fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport then connect directly to the TGV (high speed train) from CDG TGV2 to Avignon TGV (3 hours direct) and rent a car. You would plan to see Paris on the way back, taking the TGV from Avignon TGV to Paris Gare de Lyon, getting a cab to your hotel in the city.

Terms and Conditions Overview

Arrival:
Typical changeover day is Saturday, unless stated in the property overview – please inquire for an alternative arrival day.

Minimum Stay:
Most properties require a 1-week minimum stay - please inquire about shorter or flexible stays outside the summer months.

Services Included:
Final cleaning and any additional maid service listed on the web page.

Making your reservation:
These properties are reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, before you reserve, you are required to review and sign a rental agreement for the villa (the“Rental Agreement”) within 48 hours of booking. We will send you the Rental Agreement via Docusign. The Rental Agreement explains in detail all of terms and conditions regarding the rental and use of the property in detail. We shall have no obligation to accept any reservations, unless the Rental Agreement is fully executed.

Payment:
After you have signed the Rental Agreement and filled out the appropriate information, as approved by us, a nonrefundable payment of 30%* of the Rental Fee (which price is defined in your Rental Agreement) must be received by us within five (5) days to confirm the reservation. The remaining 70% of the Rental Fee is due 60 days before the arrival date, and is also non-refundable. If reservations are made less than 60 days prior to the arrival date, then 100% of the Rental Fee must be paid upon the signing of the Rental Agreement. Please know that a failure to pay any portion of the Rental Fee as set forth above and in Rental Agreement can result in loss of the reservation of the villa and a termination of the Rental Agreement. We will confirm receipt of each payment and note any outstanding balance and due date(s).

Cancellation:
Only Provence has a no refund cancellation policy, unless specifically agreed with the owner. Should the Renter wish to postpone their stay, every effort will be made to offer them the possibility to reschedule at an alternative date, pending permission from the property owner. Failure to pay the final balance (which is due 60 days before arrival) or provide required information for the security deposit may be deemed a cancellation with no refund due. Clients are advised to consider Trip Cancellation Insurance with the carrier of their choice at the time of confirmation.
