Best Provence Wineries for Wine Tours & Tastings (By Region)

Every Glass Tells a Story

Provence has been making wine for 2,600 years.

Provence is where French winemaking began—and where it continues to feel most alive.

Vines climb limestone hillsides shaped by the mistral wind, olive groves share the landscape with century-old cellars, and tastings happen not in formal rooms but on sun-warmed terraces overlooking the very vineyards that filled your glass.

Once your villa booking is confirmed, our concierge will be happy to arrange activities for you, or share contact details if you prefer to book yourself.

Self-Guided Wineries by Region

Important Note:
Many wineries close Sundays and during lunch hours (typically 12–2pm).
We recommend contacting estates in advance, especially during summer months.

The Alpilles

The dramatic white peaks of the Alpilles create a microclimate ideal for bold, mineral-driven wines. These estates combine exceptional terroir with some of the region’s most striking settings.

Château Romanin | Saint-Rémy-de-Provence: Biodynamic pioneer since 1988, with an extraordinary cathedral wine cellar carved into the rock. The panoramic terrace offers 360° views from Mont Ventoux to Avignon. (Cathedral Cellar Tour: €19/person, 1 hour)

Domaine d’Estoublon | Fontvieille: Guided tours through both vineyard and olive grove, concluding with tastings of the estate’s celebrated wines and olive oils. (Tour & Tasting: €45/person, 1.5 hours)

Domaine des Lauzières | Eygalières Organic and biodynamic estate founded in the 16th century when Huguenots sought refuge in the Alpilles. Call ahead to arrange your visit.

Mas Sainte Berthe | Les Baux-de-Provence: Fine wines, olive oils, and regional products in the shadow of Les Baux. Open daily 9am–12pm and 2pm–6pm.

Domaine de la Vallongue | Eygalières: Stunning natural setting with daily tastings during high season, 10am–1pm and 2pm–7pm.

The Luberon

Vineyards here climb the slopes of hilltop villages, producing wines that reflect the wild herbs and limestone soil of this protected natural park.

Château de Mille | Apt: The Luberon’s oldest documented wine estate (1238), with carved stone basins that may date to the Bronze Age. A rare blend of wine, history, and biodiversity. (Self-Guided Tour: Free, 1.5 hours; Guided Tour: €19/person, 1.25 hours; VIP Experience: €90/person—private tour including chapel, winery, and tasting with local nibbles)

Domaine de la Verrière | Goult: Named for the 15th-century glassworks established here by Roy René de Provence, this estate sits within a Natura 2000 protected zone.

Domaine de Marie | Gordes: Twenty-three hectares just outside Gordes, with multiple tasting options from casual to immersive.

Domaine Citadelle | Ménerbes: More than a winery—explore the cellar, wander the botanical gardens, and discover the famous Corkscrew Museum.

Domaine La Tuillière | Murs: A lovely spot for tastings and early evening tapas with vineyard views.

South Luberon

The southern slopes produce some of the region’s most exciting biodynamic and organic wines, with estates that welcome visitors into their winemaking philosophy.

Château Fontvert | Lourmarin: Organic and biodynamic estate offering free cave tastings—or, for something extraordinary, a three-hour behind-the-scenes experience with owners Fabrice and Corinne: biodynamic farming deep-dive, wine and food pairings, heirloom vegetable harvest, aperitif, and pétanque. (Behind the Scenes: €300/person, 4–7 guests, reservation required.)

Domaine La Cavale | Cucuron: Free tastings, cellar visits (€12/person), and one-hour wine workshops (€25/person, book 48 hours ahead). Closed Sundays.

Château La Coste | Le Puy-Sainte-Réparade: A destination unto itself: world-class wines, an acclaimed art and sculpture walk across 600 acres, and multiple restaurants including fine dining in the vineyards. Plan for a full day.

Château de Beaupré | Saint-Cannat: Six generations of family winemaking, with free tastings and 1.5-hour guided tour options. Reservations required. Several other excellent wineries line this same road between Rognes and Aix.
